ARTICLE XXVII.

Committees 

Section 1.

The Committees of the Local Union shall be as follows:

1.  Organizational Committee.

2.  Steering Committee.

3.  Political Educational Committee.

4.  Civil, Democratic and Human Rights Committee.

5.  Budget Committee.

 

 

Section 2.

The Committees shall consist of at least seven (7) members for each committee.  The President shall appoint the Chairperson and members of each committee.  The President and the Secretary-Treasurer shall be an ex-officio member of all committees.  The Committees shall meet as often as is necessary by order of the Executive Board.

 

 

Section 3.

 

Organizational Committee

The Organization Committee shall work with full-time Business Representatives of the Local Union and assist them in every possible fashion in the task of extending organization within the jurisdiction of the Local Union. They shall have the authority to recommend to the Executive Board of the Local Union such organization campaigns and methods of organizing as they deem necessary for the good of the membership of the Local Union.

 

 

Section 4.

Political Education Committee

The Political Educational Committee shall cooperate with the Secretary-Treasurer of the Union in the planning of a day-by-day political educational program for the Union, said programs shall be subject to the approval of the Executive Board.

 

 

Section 5.

Civil, Democratic and Human Rights Committee

The Civil, Democratic and Human Rights Committee shall safeguard, maintain and further these rights of members under the jurisdiction of this Local Union, and; work toward eliminating all forms of discrimination which may divide us on the job, in society and in our Union.

 

 

Section 6.

 

Budget Committee

The Budget Committee shall have the authority to make a comparison of the actual expenses of the Local Union with the planned expenditures. The reports and findings of the Budget Committee shall be submitted to the Executive Board for their approval. 

Members of the Budget Committee shall be elected from each Industry or Shop Unit meeting and shall be a delegate to the Stewards Council.  This Committee shall meet monthly excepting for the months of June, July and August upon approval of the Executive Board.

 

 

Section 7.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee of this Local Union shall be composed of all shop or industry units:  Chairperson, Recording Secretary, Budget Committeepersons; and shall meet and make recommendations to the Executive Board whenever subject to call by the Executive Board.

 

 

Section 8.

If in the opinion of the Executive Board any Standing Committee or any member thereof does not function due to chronic absenteeism or incapacitation it shall be the duty of the President of the Local Union to replace such Committee or members thereof, at the next regular meeting of the Stewards Council.
