Any
member may submit proposed amendments to these By-Laws in
writing to the Steering Committee and Stewards Council which
shall jointly determine whether to submit such proposals to the
membership for vote. If
the determination is to submit such proposed amendments to the
membership, such proposed amendments shall be read at the
regular Unit Meetings and/or special General Membership Meeting
in one month and voted upon at the next regular Unit Meeting
and/or General Membership Meeting, or may be read and voted upon
at a special General Membership meeting called for such purpose
with advance notice to the members of the nature of the
amendment or amendments. Amendments approved by a majority vote of the total of
those present and voting at such meetings shall be sent to the
office of the General President of our International Union for
approval, and shall become effective upon his/her approval or if
he/she fails to approve, by the General Executive Board, if
referred to that Board.
